ANXIETY AND HYPNOTHERAPY

First of all, anxiety is a necessary and natural part of our human experience. We often need anxiety prior to performances in order to be alert and perform at our peak, but we also need anxiety in order to warn us of impending danger. Anxiety becomes an issue, however, when it causes certain negative thoughts and behaviours which affect an individual's life on a regular basis. This limits an individual from fulfilling their true potential because of the constant feelings of fear, apprehension, worry or anger.

Anxiety is often accompanied by physical, emotional and behavioural signs and symptoms. Some, but not all of these are:

Physical Sign & Symptoms

Heart palpitations, light headedness, shaking, hot flushes, sudden tiredness, nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath (or rapid breathing), stomach aches, or headache.

Emotional Signs and Symptoms

Sense of dread, panic, feelings of dis-association, feelings of impending death, fear of going crazy.

Behavioural Signs and Symptoms

Desire to escape, avoidance.

How can Hypnotherapy help anxiety?

One of the reasons why people suffering from anxiety related issues have such a difficult time is because of its over-whelming and consuming nature. From the time the anxiety is triggered, the physical and emotional symptoms associated with the anxiety can be so over-whelming that it is often difficult to think or rationalise through it. This then causes the instinctual response of escape and avoidance. No matter how hard one thinks about the anxiety unless there are effective coping strategies the battle is often lost before it even begins.

Hypnotherapy provides these coping strategies.

Hypnosis provides an effective means of finding the causative factors of the anxiety. With this awareness I can teach you to percieve your triggering events differently and create your own positive methods for managing it. Ultimately this allows you to regain control and more importantly, choice.

(Disclaimer: I make no claim in being able to assess and/or diagnose anxiety or any related panic disorders. If you have not already done so, and you feel that you require such an assessment or diagnosis, please consult a medical or psychology professional.)
